Position Summary:

As a Family Service & Guidance Center Addiction Counselor Student, you will work in a stimulating and collaborative environment where you will gain exposure to diverse clients and perspectives. Students are encouraged to network with other employees and build relationships across disciplines as well as with other students.

RESPONSIBILITES:

Asa LAC intern, you may have the opportunity to work in the following areas:

• Observe and job shadow staff.
• Job shadowing may focus on outpatient therapy services, attendant care services, psychosocial group services, case management services, wraparound services, parent support services and/or crisis resolution program services.
• Plan curriculum and/or help administer curriculum and interventions.
• Provide SUD evaluations under the direction of preceptor.
• Co-facilitate group therapy and/or parent education classes.
• Provide co-therapy with identified licensed clinician.
• Attend various trainings during the placement period, on various clinical topics.

Qualifications

Education:

• Current enrollment and in good standing in an accredited bachelor's or master's degree program majoring in addiction counseling.
• Must successfully pass the KBI and DCF Central Registry background investigations.
• Must possess a valid driver's license, a good driving record, current auto insurance and reliable transportation.

Experience:

• Passion and desire to work with children and families.
• 0-6 months experience working with children.
