Family Service Agency of DeKalb County is Hiring a Psychotherapist Near De Kalb, IL

Family Service Agency has proudly served DeKalb County since 1956, and we are home to five social service programs dedicated to strengthening people and communities through hope, healing, empowerment, and engagement.

  • Children's Advocacy Center: We conduct a one-time, child-sensitive forensic interview with children who have experienced physical or sexual abuse and provide wrap-around services for the entire family, including counseling, advocacy, and resources. Our team offers evidence-based, developmentally-appropriate prevention education to youth and adults in the community. We operate DeKalb County's 24/7 runaway-lockout crisis team, and we respond to at-risk youth who refuse to return home or are out of the control of their parents.
  • Youth Programming: We provide one-on-one mentoring to at-risk youth in the community who need a positive role model. Our team offers social-emotional learning services in DeKalb County schools on various topics, including bullying, substance abuse, and emotional management.
  • Center for Counseling: We provide inclusive counseling services for individuals, couples, families, and groups. Many of our clinicians are trained in trauma-informed counseling modalities, including EMDR, TF-CBT, and AF-CBT; however, we provide services to everyone regardless of gender identity, age, diagnosis, or life stage.
  • Senior Services: We operate four senior activity sites across DeKalb County. These sites provide recreational, emotional, and physical well-being programs to adults over 55 to encourage nutritional, creative, and cognitive success.
  • Community Action Program: We provide case management and financial assistance programs to low-income individuals and families. The goal of Community Action is to lend a helping hand and guide people to the road of self-sufficiency through family-centered services, including skill-building, resources, referrals, advocacy, and healing.

Overview:

Clinicians are responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based services to the client and family in order to promote optimal social and emotional functioning. Working collaboratively with clients/families/significant others and the interdisciplinary team, to ensure that clients receive the appropriate level of care and services to meet their ongoing mental healthcare needs in the most appropriate and cost-effective environment possible. Provides high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care. Clinicians facilitate effective and ethical individual, group, and family therapy to clients of Family Service Agency.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial and updated assessments, formulate initial and updated treatment plans, maintain regular progress notes, complete additional assessments as needed (risk assessment, inventories, etc.)
  • Formulate appropriate medically necessary diagnoses
  • Conduct goals-based therapy sessions
  • Document progress notes including appropriate treatment interventions and client response to those interventions.
  • Conduct crisis intervention when appropriate

Requirements:

  • COVID-19 vaccination is required
  • Reliable transporation is required
  • Must be willing to undergo background checks
  • Must have documented experience providing direct service to clients.
  • Must possess ability to maintain confidentiality and abide by HIPAA
  • Must be willing to act as an active member of our clinical and agency team
  • Bilingual is a plus!

Education:

  • MHP: Bachelor's degree in human service field (ex: psychology, sociology, human development, etc.)
  • QMHP: Master's degree in human service field (ex: psychology, higher education, social work, etc.)
  • Preferred: CADC, LMFT, MSW, LSW, CRC, LCSW, LPC, LCPC, PhD, etc.
  • Please note, pay varies by education and licensure.

Optional Responsibilities:

  • Join our on-call team and assist with DeKalb County's 24/7 Comprehensive Community Based Youth Services runaway/lockout program.
  • Attend community events and recruit clients, donors, and employees.
  • Join our Children's Advocacy Center and become a trained forensic interviewer.
  • Create, lead, and facilitate groups to children, adults, or seniors.
