Family Guidance Centers is Hiring a Recovery Support Specialist - RSC - Manteno - 1st Shift Near Manteno, IL

Job Description:


Family Guidance Centers, Inc. (FGC), a not-for-profit behavioral healthcare organization that treats and prevents substance abuse, as well as an array of other related problems. Family Guidance Centers Inc. offers opportunities for individuals with an interest in behavioral health.

Essential Duties:

  • Participate as a member of the Manteno Transition Team (Assessment Specialists, Care Coordinators, RSS, Peer Specialists) to ensure efficient completion of patient assessment, admission and discharge processes
  • Taking inquiry information from prospective patients
  • Scheduling assessments and conducting assessments
  • Supporting referrals to recovery homes or sober living environments
  • Creating discharge recovery plans in consultation with assigned counselors
  • Engage patients in treatment through motivational interviewing and motivational enhancement techniques
  • Develop individualized Recovery Plans with patients that emphasize relapse prevention strategies and use of natural supports in patient’s community
  • Assist with monitoring patient engagement and communicate with the treatment team regarding patient attendance, participation and any barriers or needs to support treatment involvement
  • Conduct recovery coaching group sessions and individual recovery support sessions providing recovery and relapse prevention education and support
  • Provide education both in group and individual settings on the appropriate use of medication assisted treatment (e.g., methadone, Vivitrol)
  • Provide employment coaching in individual and group settings to assist patients (e.g., identify experience and skills, appropriate potential places of employment/ job training services, resume building, etc.)
  • Document services provided in the individual patient record in a timely fashion and in accordance with IL.SUPR, Federal and FGC standards
  • Consult with care coordinators and the treatment team regarding patient needs for support related to housing, medical, dental, transportation, childcare, mental health or other needs
  • Other duties as assigned

Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00a - 4:30p)

Required Experience:


Education and/or Experience:
Associate degree (or higher) in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or a related field preferred; Prior experience in or with substance use are encouraged to apply

Certification, Licensure, Registrations: IAODAPCA Certified Alcohol and Other Drugs Counselor (CADC) required or able to obtain within given time of hire date; IAODAPCA Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) preferred
