General Summary
Provides direct therapeutic services to families and children and participates in the development, delivery, and evaluation of all phases of services offered through the Community and Mental Health Services program. Psychologists may receive on-going peer supervision from other members of the Community Mental Health Services staff and from the other sources as deemed necessary.

Essential Job Functions

  • Adhere to the ethical standards of FamilyForward and those of the specific profession.
  • Maintain core values standards.
  • Provide outpatient mental health services to foster and adopted children and their families and to other types of clients as time permits. The psychologist will offer standardized evaluations and assessment measures, offer written and verbal evaluation of the childs current functional relationships with others and self, and provide family-based interventions.
  • Provide clinical consultations for FamilyForward therapy staff.
  • Participate in community education forums that focus on adoption, foster care, bonding, and attachment.
  • Attend education or team meetings for children, and to work closely with child protective services, social workers, attorneys, and other mental health professionals.
  • Prepare summary reports on their clients for social workers, judges, attorneys, or others, as needed. May be required to appear in court.
  • Participate with staff in development and evaluation of the program.
  • Attend individual and staff meetings as requested by Program Manager.
  • Assist in the revision of existing policies and procedures related to the service delivery.
  • Assist with review and evaluation of current agency programs.
  • Collaborate with other programs and serve as an informed agency advocate.
  • Open and maintain current records on all clients in accordance with agency policies and procedures for treatment.
  • Keep statistical accounts of caseloads monthly.
  • Rotate intake system in accordance with agency programs and needs.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of community by participating in inter-agency functions and other community social services functions.
  • Participate in 20 hours of staff training/in-service annually (pro-rated for part-time)
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Doctorate degree in clinical psychology.
  • Minimum of three years experience.
  • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Missouri (PsyD or PhD).
  • License must be clear of any Board, liability insurance complaints, or probation.
  • Must have experience working with children and families with adoption/and or foster care.
  • Experience in serving high needs populations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be to handle confidential information, administrative details, work independently, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge of agency vision, mission, and services.
  • Knowledge of supervisory requirements and practices.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing needs and time pressures.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgement.
  • Ability to disseminate information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with coworkers, customers, donors, and vendors.
  • Ability to create and sustain positive working relationships with all levels of the agency; internal and external.

Working Conditions
Normal working conditions are absent of extreme factors. Employee will remain in stationary position 50% of the time and frequently lift items up to 25 pounds or greater.
