About Us

Family Centered Services of Alaska (FCSA) is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) corporation founded in 1989 by Fairbanks, Alaska community members committed to helping children with a wide spectrum of behavioral and mental health needs. Today, FCSA has over 100 employees dedicated to our mission of providing unconditional care to children and their families.

FCSA provides behavioral and mental health services to youth aged 5-19. Services include outpatient therapy, education, foster care, and short or long-term residential treatment. FCSA is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and was one of the first organizations to be licensed by the state to establish, recruit, and monitor foster homes.

Smart Start Learning Center is a subsidiary of FCSA and provides daytime care to families in our community. Employees of FCSA are eligible to enroll their children in childcare services and enjoy a discount on their monthly tuition (contingent on enrollment availability).

About the Job

Family Centered Services of Alaska is looking for an Admissions Coordinator to oversee and ensure the smooth processing of Admissions for outpatient programs. Duties include gathering admissions documents, general clerical duties, communicating with families, and coordinating with appropriate parties to ensure a smooth process for our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Route admission packets for committee review
  • Mail/email/Fax acceptance and or denial letters.
  • Schedule admissions
  • Prepare accepted packets for routing to clinical director.
  • Coordinate and gather necessary attachments for applications.
  • Ensure admissions are scheduled concurrently per FCSA policy and align with facility discharges.
  • Maintain records and/or a database of all applications, referrals and discharging clients.
  • Make weekly contact with community/statewide stake holders regarding bed availability.
  • Travel as necessary.
  • Attend weekly supervision.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and act as a liaison with State and community Stakeholders.
  • Act as liaison between FCSA and referring agency staff.
  • Report problematic situations to supervisor.
  • Ensure that admissions office equipment is maintained and properly functioning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, college degree preferred
  • Two years office or clerical experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Mental Health terminology and familiarity with diagnostic codes preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills adequate to work effectively with professional public and private organizations and general community members.
  • Communication and emotional skills adequate to work as part of a team.
  • Experience in writing professional correspondence.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office and Excel.
  • Experience in proofreading professional correspondence prepared by others.
  • Strong command of English grammar including punctuation, proper word usage, and spelling.
  • Personal characteristics suitable to provide a positive professional image of FCSA.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work assignments.
  • Current Alaska driver’s license and insurable driving record in accordance with FCSA policy limitations/restrictions. Adequate transportation to escort clients if needed.
  • Freedom from criminal convictions that may adversely affect the employee’s ability to work safely with children, contingent on a fingerprint & background records check conducted by the State of Alaska Division of Health Care Services Background Check Unit.
  • Current CPR/1st Aid certification or ability to become certified.

This position is a driving position. Applicants will be required to submit a driving record if selected for the position.

All applicants must be at least 21 years of age due to State of AK regulations and must pass a State of AK Background Check.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.50 - $24.93 per hour
