Overview:
We are seeking two fun and compassionate Caregivers and Teachers to join our team at our new Respite Care Center in Janesville. As a Caregiver, you will provide essential support and assistance to children with various needs, including those with autism and developmental disabilities.
Our goal at Families of Abilities is to create an environment where children can thrive and families can feel confident and empowered in their journey. We are seeking someone who shares that goal and wants a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others in the community.
Duties:
- Provide direct supervision of the children at all times
- Follow a guided lesson plan or have the ability to create a lesson plan that will meet the needs and developmental level of each child
- Provide direct client care, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Administer medications according to prescribed schedules and document accurately
- Monitor and report any changes in client condition or behavior to the appropriate professionals
- Follow HIPAA guidelines to ensure client confidentiality and privacy
- Implement individualized care plans and support individuals in achieving their goals
- Foster a safe and supportive environment for individuals with autism or developmental disabilities
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including parents, social workers, teachers, therapists, and other caregivers
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities is preferred
- Previous experience working with children
- Ability to lift and move patients safely using proper techniques and assistive devices
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and schedules
- Ability to pass a caregiver background check
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
