Job Summary:
The purpose of this position is to co-facilitate parent education groups using models such as The Incredible Years Parenting Program, Triple P and/or Circle of Security. Duties include teaching one or more class series of sixteen sessions each per year in Orange and Chatham Counties. The Parent Educator will be the leader as well as collaborator in the group sessions and assume a role of friendship with families. The Parent Educator will be the person to take charge, teach and confront or explain behavioral principles and provide clear rationale for them. They will also elicit strengths of the parents and challenge them to see new perspectives.
Major Duties/Functions /Responsibilities:
? Provide education and support to families whose children are dealing with social, emotional and /or behavioral issues.
? Liaison between child/family and other agencies to ensure continuity of care. Coordination and collaboration with persons providing services to the child/family.
? Sharing information about agency and services when attending meetings, trainings and other events.
Qualifications and Knowledge/Skills Required:
? Fluency in written and verbal English and Spanish required.
? Must be organized, non-authoritarian, proactive, flexible, confident, enthusiastic and committed to the program.
? Must be able to collaborate effectively with community partners
? Ability to effectively problem-solve and clarify expectations and program rules with families
? Ability to involve parents in the program activities with enthusiasm, warmth, and patience
? Satisfactory reference check and criminal background check required
? Highschool Degree/GED required
Other:
? Certification in one of the following models preferred but not required: Triple P, Incredible Years, Circle of Security.
? Previous experience with providing evidence-based programs preferred but not required.
? This is a part-time position with 8 hours/week. 2 days a week availability for in-person and/or telehealth sessions required.
? This position is grant funded with an hourly pay rate between $25.50/hr
