Summary/Objective
Fairwinds technologies is looking for a Radio Frequency (RF) Integration & Test (I&T) engineer capable of working with a technical team to successfully deliver integrated communications solutions across various internal research & development and customer contracted efforts. The RF I&T Engineer will report to the Vice President of Engineering.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with System Engineers and various engineering disciplines to ensure accuracy of test products and determine if outputs meet project/customer requirements
- Based on customer requirements, lead the development and execution of component, unit, and system test cases.
- Create effective and focused testing plans, strategies, procedures and reports.
- Conduct testing on various RF based systems including radios, satellite communications equipment, and microwave systems
- Create or provide input for technical documentation including Engineering Change Proposals (ECP), system requirements and integration documents (such as Interface Control Documents).
- Analyze current technologies used within the company and develop steps and processes to improve testing procedures and techniques.
- Configure power meters, spectrum analyzers, network analyzer, oscilloscope, and other miscellaneous test equipment to support RF testing
- Define and implement automation processes to ensure accuracy and repeatability
- Utilize Python and associated packages to support test automation: Pandas, PySNMP, PyVISA, and SCPI
Competencies
- Experience operating and configuring RF test instrumentation to perform complex unit and system tests
- Experience automating complex tests using software
- Experience developing test plans, procedures, and reports
- Experience developing system design documents
- Experience developing high-level hardware architectural designs
- Experience establishing test environments & tracking system/subsystem issues
- Experience in computers and networking
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not supervise others.
Work Environment
This position is primarily performed in a traditional office environment or integration facility. This position is ON SITE in Melbourne, FL.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full time, exempt position, working Monday through Friday; 40 hours per work week; occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Some flexibility in actual work hours may be offered.
Travel
Up to 50% travel to US/CONUS sites
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelors or higher degree in a technical field or equivalent technical training & experience
- Must have experience configuring & testing point-to-point, mesh radios or other tactical radios
- Must have experience developing test plans, test procedures, and test reports
- Must have experience performing integration and test efforts for medium to large projects
- Must possess fundamental knowledge of networking principals: TCP/IP & Routing/Switching
- Must have 5-7 year’s systems Test and Integration experience with radios
Preferred Education/Experience
- Familiarity with Field Programable Gate Arrays (FPGA)
- Familiarity with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) fundamentals and techniques
- Experience testing and configuring LOS point-to-point and mesh radios
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Must be eligible to work in the US. Must be able to obtain a DoD SECRET security clearance.
