This position is 0.7 FTE (56 hours per two weeks), 8 hour shifts on the evening shift with an every other weekend rotation.

About this Unit:

• 18 bed Telemetry and ICU
• 18 years old and up patients
• Average length of stay average 3-4 days.
• Patient population: vents, codes, vent failures, septics, shock, and unstable post surgical

Responsible to perform patient care duties and activities for a group of patients. Creates an atmosphere of hospitality on the unit and contributes to efficient unit operation by carrying out all unit/clerical and receptionist activities, and transcribing physician orders. Observes cardiac monitors, detecting and reporting abnormalities that may occur in the patient s EKG status.

Job Expectations:

• Supports the nursing process to achieve outcome focused patient care.
• Documents patient information in EHR and/or other electronic system in accordance with program standards, department policies/procedures.
• Prioritizes and transcribes written doctor's orders under the supervision of the RN.
• Performs vital sign checks, bladder scanning, blood sugar testing, and documents cares provided.
• Observes the cardiac monitors and analyzes, records, and documents the rhythm status from each monitored patient.

Required

Experience

• 1 to 3 years

License/Certification/Registration

• Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants much be able to acquire BLS certification upon completion of the OnTrack program 
• Completion of hospital or vocational training in transcription/processing of physician orders EKG monitoring course (provided by M Health Fairview)
• Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)

Or

• Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program

Or

• Current certification on the MN Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position
