Fairview Community Health Center is Hiring a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Near Bowling Green, KY

A Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), who specializes in providing mental health and psychiatric care to patients of all ages. PMHNPs play an essential role in FQHCs by offering accessible, high-quality, and comprehensive mental health services to underserved communities. They work collaboratively with physicians, other nurse practitioners, and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and patient-centered care.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including taking patient histories, performing mental status examinations, and ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests.

Diagnose mental health conditions, such as mood, anxiety, and substance use disorders, and identify risk factors and potential complications.

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients, including prescribing psychotropic medications, providing psychotherapy, and making referrals to specialists or support services as needed.

Monitor and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal patient outcomes and provide ongoing management of mental health conditions. Provide patient education and counseling on various mental health and well-being topics, such as stress management, self-care, and coping strategies.

Promote mental health maintenance and early intervention by encouraging patients to participate in routine screenings, counseling, and support services.

Act as a patient advocate, addressing patients' needs, concerns, and preferences while ensuring culturally sensitive care.

Collaborate with patients, families, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care, facilitate referrals, and support continuity of care across settings.

Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, including medical histories, examination findings, treatment plans, and progress notes.

Ensure compliance with documentation requirements, confidentiality guidelines, and other relevant regulations, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices, industry trends, and licensure requirements for nurse practitioners.

Collaborate with other healthcare providers and staff within the FQHC to ensure a team-based approach to care and share knowledge and expertise.

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Requirements:

  • Masters level Nursing degree with certifications in Psychiatrics and/or Mental Health.

AND

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing from a school with an accredited program.
  • Two (2) years work experience as a registered nurse.
  • Completion of an organized post-basis program of study and clinical experience.

OR

  • An Associate degree or diploma from a school of professional nursing by an accredited program.
  • Three (3) years work experience as a registered nurse.
  • Completion of a post-basic program of study and clinical experience.

AND

  • Licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Kentucky or have a Temporary Authorization to practice under the Kentucky Board of Nursing protocol.
