Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Drive trucks, including those requiring a CDL according to state regulations to transport and deliver cargo or materials.
• Maintain radio or telephone contact with base or supervisor to receive instructions or be dispatched to new location.
• Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
• HT2Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
• Read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
• Maintain records such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements in accordance with regulations.
• Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers.
• Present bills and receipts and collect payments for goods delivered or loaded.
• Turn in receipts and money received from deliveries.
• Attach fastening systems, position blocks and coverings around and over items to prevent damage to cargo or others during transport.
• Operate equipment on vehicle to load, unload, or disperse cargo or materials.
• Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
• Clean, inspect, and service vehicles and report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicle.
• Clean trucks and warehouse, pull orders, put up stock and perform other warehouse duties as assigned.
• Abide by all safety rules, company, and shipyard practices.

Qualifications:

• Able to gain access to all government facilities as required.
• Must have a current forklift license.
• Able to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Must be reliable and maintain consistent work attendance.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least 2 years of experience as a driver/delivery person very familiar with local areas, where expected to drive.
• Must have a current driver’s license.
• Must have an excellent driving record.

Physical Demands:

• While performing these job duties, the employee is routinely required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; use fingers and hands to type or write; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• This position is performed in an industrial environment, with local travel required.
