Under the supervision of the Chief, Site Plan Review, the Engineering Aide provides engineering support to the Planning Department team. The Engineering Aide is responsible for assisting with ­­­­technical work related to water facilities and water system planning, and various other duties as assigned. In return, the Engineering Aide will receive hands-on exposure to the inner workings of a water utility Planning department.This position will perform technical work related to the installation of water facilities by:

• Researching documents, land records and as-builts relating to water facilities.
• Preparing schematics and other graphical representations of water facilities.
• Assisting with the review of development plans to determine water system connection points, preliminary alignments, and requirements for water service to proposed developments.
• Researching, compiling, and formatting information related to water mains, facilities, property records and easements, and
• Assist with other duties related to water system, watershed protection and water supply planning.

• This position requires the ability to read and interpret water system maps and construction plans and relating them to existing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data.
• A general knowledge of Microsoft Office products is required. 
• Some familiarity with ESRI's ArcGIS Desktop software is helpful.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• Enrolled as a full-time student at a college, university, or trade school for the upcoming fall to qualify for the program.
• Possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
• Pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug screening.
• THIS IS A SUMMER POSITION ONLY - Starting May 20, 2024 to August 9, 2024
