Job Summary: STREAM is a literacy-based STEAM Summer program for students in grades 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. This literacy-rich program delivers engaging lessons through project-based learning in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics to guide student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking in a hands-on camp environment.
Salary: $40.21/hour, (B 0 in accordance with the FEA negotiated agreement) Program Dates: May 31 - June 28/2024 Work Schedule: Part Time, Work Hours Determined by Supervisor Job Qualifications/Requirements:
Valid State of Alaska Initial, Professional or Masters teacher certificate with an elementary endorsement
First through third grade teaching experience,
Three (3) years or more early literacy experience
Understanding of and previous lesson planning in the blended content areas of science, technology, engineering, arts and math.
At least one year or one summer experience in a 21st CCLC grant funded program
Physical and Mental Demands The physical demands of this position require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing. Requires near vision to write and read printed materials and computer screens. Requires hearing and speaking to exchange information on the telephone or in person. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing up to 20 lbs. Must be able to use carts, ladders, dollies, and stools to assist in moving or shelving items. Requires sufficient arm, hand, finger dexterity to operate a keyboard and other office equipment. Repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers may also be required. Additionally, the employee must be able to communicate by oral and written means in an appropriate business manner and have cognitive skills to understand instructions, readily recall facts and details, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.
