Job Summary: The library media technician assists the curriculum coordinator in curating, maintaining, and circulating the physical collections and resources of Library Media Services. Performs original and copy cataloging, and aids in the configuration and maintenance of the district online library and resource management systems. Assists district administration, staff, and families in locating and using LMS resources. Assists the coordinator in providing support and training to the district library staff. Starting Hourly Rate: Grade 8: $22.97 - $33.91 DOE Work Hours: 7.5 hours per day Work Year: 12 months Bargaining Unit: Education Support Staff Association (ESSA) Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position):
A minimum of 48 hours of college semester credits from a regionally accredited institution.
Four (4) years of public, academic, or school library work experience, to include experience working with online library catalogs, original and copy cataloging, and classification systems.
Thorough knowledge of AACR2 and other cataloging rules and interpretations including MARC format.
Excellent skills in using the Dewey Decimal System and library filing rules.
Knowledge of library acquisitions, cataloging, processing, circulation, inventory, and collection evaluation.
Excellent skills using PC and Mac computers, Google applications, PowerSchool, Follett Destiny, and a variety of multimedia technologies.
Must have a basic knowledge of database and server management.
Must have the ability to multi-task and re-prioritize work as needed.
Must be able to work independently and under stressful conditions such as meeting deadlines, completing work amidst numerous interruptions and reactivating failed systems.
Must be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and the public.
Must possess excellent organizational skills, verbal skills, tact, and diplomacy.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Must provide proof of automobile insurance at statutory limits.
