Fairbanks Assisted Living is Hiring a Part Time Day Habilitation Specialist / Transportation Assistance Near Fairbanks, AK

Fairbanks Assisted Living in Fairbanks, AK is looking for one part time day habilitation specialist to join our team. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, motivated, and hard-working and must enjoy spending time in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and support to individuals with disabilities in a day habilitation program.
  • Assist individuals activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication administration, following established care plans.
  • Implement individualized program plans and activities to enhance skill development and promote independence.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive environment that encourages social interaction and community integration.
  • Assist with transportation needs, such as transporting individuals to and from the day habilitation program or other community activities and doctor appointments.
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of individuals during transportation, following all traffic rules and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including mileage, times, and any incidents or observations.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner, including daily progress notes, incident reports, and any other necessary reports.
  • Monitor and document individual progress and behaviors, reporting any concerns or changes to the appropriate supervisor or team members.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including program coordinators, therapists, and other support staff, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals, their families, and caregivers, providing updates on progress, activities, and any relevant information.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications in relevant fields such as healthcare or developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to safely operate a vehicle and assist individuals with mobility challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to help individuals with disabilities achieve their goals.
  • Ability to follow directions, work independently, and make sound judgments.
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs and handle challenging situations with professionalism.
