Meta is seeking a Connectivity Strategy Lead for the DEC Design team experienced in providing strategic leadership and guidance for the Designs Connectivity function, facilitating, and enabling execution of efficient physical layer connectivity designs, inclusive of Inside and Outside Plant structured cabling in support of the Business need for capacity, in partnership with our internal cross-functional teams and external/industry partners. Candidate must have a foundational understanding of both technical and business drivers for the physical network. A thorough end-to-end understanding of design workflows, processes and tools, from conception to production, is required. The individual must be able to collaborate across teams to deliver on capacity commitments and business objectives. This role is responsible for strategic road mapping and operational direction that enable the DEC Design team to deliver capacity to the business across our entire portfolio of New Builds, Greenfields, Leased Facilities and Retrofits. Our data centers are the foundation upon which our software operates enabling innovation for the company. Building and operating data centers the "right" way from the day they go live is synonymous with ensuring capacity availability and capital conservatism. The data center engineering team collaborates with all key stakeholders to ensure engineering and design of our data centers incorporate considerations from micro-levels (servers and IT equipment design requirements) to macro-levels (mechanical cooling, power distribution and connectivity options) to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability of our compute infrastructure. This position is full-time.

DEC Design Connectivity Strategy Lead Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic and operational direction to deliver pathway, cabling and network patching design services. Strategy should align technical, commercial and business drivers to enable the Design teams execute optimized, scalable, value driven designs focused on cost, schedule and quality predictability.
  • Collaborate and influence cross-organizationally, including with our internal Network/Hardware, Engineering and Supply Chain teams as new products and technologies are introduced and facilitate evaluation & integration into our connectivity designs.
  • Collaborate with our Network Deployment (part of the Construction pillar) partner teams during project execution in developing and optimizing execution strategies and improving processes that ensure complex data center builds are executed on time and within budget to (meet our business needs.
  • Develop and drive strong cross-functional communications between Design, Engineering and Delivery teams. Establish feedback mechanisms that learn from site level product engagement, installation, serviceability methods and root cause analysis to inform future products as well as inflight projects.
  • Develop and communicate a documented roadmap of prioritized initiatives, goals, and objectives as well as the ability to measure their value impact on the Business
  • Work with suppliers and cross-functionally within Meta to assure successful product introductions, from validation of new products to support and training of field teams
  • Drive best practices through effective processes, documentation, and training materials.
  • With Infrastructure leadership, establish Key Performance Indicators and performance targets for builds as well as sustaining operations. Consistently deliver to these targets.
  • Highlight opportunities for significant design/product improvements and lead high impact, cross-functional initiatives with measurable results. Support development of business cases and facilitate evaluation of resource requirements and investments.
  • Identify, respond and responsibly escalate, when required, high-priority risks and mitigations for awareness and/or actioning.
  • Mentor and develop engineering leaders and individual contributors across DEC and IDC.
  • Travel approximately 25% to support field installations, evaluate new products and processes, and drive industry standards

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of (15) years professional experience in program and or leadership roles Network Engineering experience, including switching/transport protocols and technology, from design through delivery of new products or services
  • Experience in engaging, influencing, and leading stakeholders
  • Experience problem solving, thinking strategically, and deep-diving technical risks/opportunities, as required

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
  • Experience with fiber optic cabling, optics and network hardware
