Position Overview

To prepare and maintain financial records to track the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or maintain monthly financial and consolidated statements, supporting schedules, balance sheets, general ledgers and other financial records involving cash, payroll, accounts receivables, accounts payables, and inventories which include raw materials, finished goods, and work in process
  • Reviews financial statements, responsible for all standard costing and inventory valuation and serves as financial adviser for all operational departments.
  • Responsible for cost accounting including cost analysis of manufacturing and operations.
  • Manage and report on daily cash position.
  • Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts.
  • Manage directly or through subordinates, the company's financial accounts, payrolls, budget, cash receipts and financial assets
  • Actively participate in both system and process improvements by monitoring assigned areas for process improvements to ensure efficiency
  • Prepare journal entries
  • Review purchase orders working closely with procurement as applicable on contract purchases
  • Oversee the month-end close process, including generating and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Manage accuracy of year-end physical inventory
  • Manage and assist with preparation for annual audits and quarterly reviews, including interaction with external auditors and tax consultants.
  • Manage bank relationships and weekly/monthly bank reporting
  • Create and update policies and process documents as needed.
  • Work closely with department heads to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information, and to ensure they have the resources they need for informed decision making.
  • Work closely with all Department Heads to drive cost down in all areas
  • Evaluates staff performance to recommend personnel actions such as hiring, retention, promotion, transfer, or dismissal
  • Participates in training as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Hours: M - F 8:00AM - 5:00PM

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CPA or CMA preferred
  • Prior ERP experience, SAGE a plus
  • Minimum 5 years previous Controllership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior Supervisory responsibility
  • Excellent analysis skills
  • Strong system and data processing background
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting and cost accounting
  • Sound knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, standards, and regulations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software
