Dental Assistant Responsibilities

· Escorts patients into dental treatment rooms and prepares patient and chart for the dentist.

· Sanitizes all surfaces of dental room, ensures the proper equipment is working, discards disposable supplies and instruments, and prepares instruments and additional supplies for dental care and treatment to be provided for the next patient.

· Performs and develops diagnostic x-rays and panoramic x-rays when necessary.

· Assists the dentist by handling instruments and other supplies, suctioning, irrigating, teeth impressions, as directed by the dentist.

· Dismisses patients when dental care and treatment is completed, providing any assistance to patients as needed.

· Cleans patient area of dental treatment room, removing instruments and supplies and ensuring that the room is ready for the next patient.

· Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies in each room.

· Responsible to perform suctions on rotational period.

Dental Assistant Qualifications:

· Certification or associate degree in an accredited dental assistance program preferred

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Good verbal communication skills.

· Consistently professional appearance and attitude.

· Ability to provide great patient care.
