Day to Day:

• Work closely with patients to understand their vision needs and lifestyle preferences.
• Recommend and assist patients in selecting frames, lenses, and other optical products.
• Take accurate measurements of customers' eyes and facial features to ensure proper fit of eyewear
• Educate customers on lens options, coatings, and frame styles to help them make informed decisions
• Perform precise measurements for fittings, ensuring optimal comfort and functionality.
• Conduct adjustments, repairs, and maintenance of eyewear.
• Troubleshoot any issues customers might have with visual comfort, prescription changes, and frame adjustments
• Stay informed about industry trends, new products, and lens technologies.
• Collaborate with the optometrists and other team members to provide comprehensive eye care services.
• Keep accurate records of customer prescriptions and orders.
• Assist in training co-workers about opticianry, optical skills, adjustments, repairs, troubleshooting, eyewear sales, proper frame fit and other duties as requested by management.
• Display a professional, upbeat, and positive presence at all times.

- Strong sales skills to effectively communicate with customers and promote products
- Retail management skills to effectively manage inventory, handle transactions, and provide excellent customer service
- Proficiency in retail math to accurately calculate prices, discounts, and sales tax for eyewear purchases
- Ability to accurately explain patient insurance benefits and calculate prices for eyewear and eye care services using the patients' insurance explanations and formulas
- Experience in retail sales is necessary. Optical sales preferred
- Knowledge of anatomy related to the eyes and visual system is beneficial for understanding customers' needs
- Exceptional communication skills including effective writing, speaking, and listening
- Strong teamwork skills which include collaboration, honestly, communication, and self accountability
- Proficient organizational and problem solving skills
- Empathetic to the needs and concerns of patients and co-workers

**The pay range is provided by Indeed as "the average" range for an optician in our area. Starting pay will be determined based on experience and skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $34,123.22 - $47,116.13 per year
