eyepic is Hiring an Optical Lab Technician Near Harlem, NY

We are EYEPIC, an innovative pioneer in the eyecare industry, bringing together the vast fields of ophthalmology, optometry and opticianry as never before. We are looking for a motivated Optical Lab Technician who is passionate about their work to join our Eyepic team!

This is a full-time position, and you will be responsible for covering two labs between Graham and Harlem locations.

Optical Lab Technician Responsibilities:

  • Edging and tinting SV, MF, PAL, and other various lenses.
  • Inspect lens blanks to detect flaws, verify smoothness of surface, and ensure thickness of coating lenses.
  • Set up machines to polish, bevel, edge, or grind lenses, flats, blanks, or other precision optical elements.
  • Inspect lenses before and after completion to verify alignment and conformance to specifications, using precision instruments.
  • Clean finished lenses and eyeglasses, using cloths and solvents.
  • Adjust lenses and frames to correct alignment, assemble eyeglasses.
  • Ordering lenses and optical material based on cost, surfacing lab, patient prescription, and lens material.
  • Maintaining lens and lab supply inventory.
  • Maintaining weekly and monthly reports as per protocols.
  • Patients-frame and patient-lens education/adjustment.
  • Proper maintenance of the optical and lab equipment.
  • Preparing orders for glasses and contact lenses by checking prescriptions, lens thickness and other specifications.
  • Making sure that orders for glasses and contact lenses have been processed accurately.
  • Must have a general knowledge of contact lenses.
  • Perform optical billing duties.
  • Utilize stock, surface and insurance lab portals to place eyewear orders.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Lab Technician.
  • Strong ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Must be comfortable using a computer and learn specialized software and processes.
  • Knowledge of eye care vocabulary, prescriptions, and lab protocols.
  • Able to take initiatives.
  • Good problem-solving skills, ability to collaborate with others, and multi-task.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
