The Ophthalmic Assistant/SCRIBE monitors patient flow, ensuring the physician exam rooms are always full, prepares the patient for the exam, and assists the physician in patient examinations to allow for proper, professional diagnosis of patients’ conditions.

Responsibilities :

  • Obtain patient medical history, chief complaint, and history of allergies and medications
  • Perform accurate and consistent documentation and measurement tasks to include:
  • Visual Acuity
  • Lensometry
  • Confrontational Visual Fields
  • Stereo testing
  • Evaluation of Motility
  • Pupillary Function Tests
  • Color Plates
  • Tonometry
  • Performs ordered diagnostic testing which may include:
  • IOL Master
  • Visual Fields
  • OCT
  • Fundus Photography

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Team-oriented
  • Well-organized with strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated computer literacy. Prior experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) helpful
  • Personable and empathetic with patient’s needs and concerns
  • Dependable
  • Trustworthy

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associates degree, Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred
  • Prior experience working with patients in a medical office; optometry and/or ophthalmology preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
