Unifeye Vision Partners is currently hiring for a Ophthalmic Technician, San Diego, CA
SUMMARY
The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for attending to patients in a timely and professional manner while providing a first-class customer service experience with all patients. The Ophthalmic Technician performs measurements and tests that provide the physician with the information needed to arrive at a diagnosis and to prescribe treatment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Greet all patients and guests with highest level of customer service and care and in accordance with company standards. Anticipate and address service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank others with genuine appreciation. Treat each patient with respect by greeting them by name, introducing yourself, and ensuring that the patient understands tests, procedures, and the process during the exam.
  • Obtain complete patient histories including chief complaint, past ocular/medical history, family medical/ocular history and history of allergies and medications.
  • Perform ophthalmologic tests including visual acuity, applanation tonometry, pachymetry, visual fields, corneal topography, OCTs, lensometry, and other tests as directed within the prescribed timeline.
  • Assist with patient pre- and post-op counseling, procedure set up, and performing in office procedures. Obtain consents when needed.
  • Calibrate diagnostic equipment per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Instrument sterilization as needed.
  • Participate in trainings and meet requirements for Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) measures, HIPAA compliance and Protected Health Information.
  • Ensure opening and closing of special testing rooms. Maintain stocking of exam lanes and maintain order in work areas.
  • Ensure company COVID-19 protocols are followed.
  • This position is in-office and remote is not available
  • Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of ophthalmology terms, conditions and clinical flow preferred.
  • Professional verbal communication skills, demonstrating ability to educate patients in a friendly and positive manner.
  • Ability to clearly document activities in Electronical Medical Records system preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to move between and progress tasks forward.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Typing, Computer and Data entry
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum one year of experience in Ophthalmology or Optometry setting.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) Certification Preferred
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
