Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Optician to join our team. As an Optician, you will be responsible for assisting patients in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses, as well as providing exceptional customer service. Your expertise in ophthalmology, retail math systems, medical terminology, and anatomy knowledge will be essential in delivering high-quality vision care to our patients.
Responsibilities:
- Assist patients in selecting frames that suit their style and preferences
- Take accurate measurements of patients' eyes and facial features to ensure proper fit of eyeglasses
- Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and treatments
- Place orders for eyeglasses and contact lenses with suppliers
- Adjust and repair eyeglasses as needed
- Provide guidance on proper care and maintenance of eyewear
- Maintain accurate records of patient prescriptions and orders
- Collaborate with optometrists and ophthalmologists to ensure optimal patient care
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in optical technology and products
Experience:
To be successful in this role, you should have the following qualifications:
- Previous experience as an Optician or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology, retail math systems, medical terminology, and anatomy
- Familiarity with aseptic technique for handling contact lenses
- Proficiency in medical coding and billing processes
- Experience working with senior care patients is a plus
- Familiarity with Epic or other electronic medical record systems is preferred
