What does the Experitec Valve Technician role look like?The Valve Technician is a part of our Services organization and is responsible for teardown, repair, new assembly, calibration, and diagnostics using Flowscanner of all brands of control valves and instruments, associated paperwork, valve diagnostics, digital control technology and the associated instrumentation such as AMS & Delta V. Our customers are largely manufacturing facilities and Upstream Oil & Gas. We serve many different industries including chemical, power generation, refining, oil & gas, food & beverage, pulp & paper, and water.
What is the Valve Technician responsible for?The Valve Technician serves to construct and deliver solutions that meet customer expectations. You will also work in shop environment with some field service as needed. You will be asked to effectively communicate in various settings and stayed productive while remaining aligned with your goals.
Typical work assignments include:
  • Assemble new or repaired equipment.
  • Execute various inventory control responsibilities such as stocking shelves, pulling parts, cycle counting, and proper documentation of inventory transactions.
  • Communicate with customers about technical assistance, troubleshooting, quoting, and disposition of repairs.
  • Complete surface preparations and paint assemblies and parts.
  • Disassemble, cleanup, and evaluate parts.
  • Evaluate products for final inspection and complete inspection report.
  • Ensure nameplates have stamps and tags.
  • Sign and document date on compliance sheets.
  • Box and ship old and new parts, and crate and package parts when required.
  • Participate in field service calls at customer sites as required (may require overnight stays from time-to-time).
  • Travel as required throughout your service territory via company vehicle.
    • Travel will be up to 65% throughout the year.
    • Additional compensation will be paid for any travel and fieldwork.
    • During busy times of the year, shifts will extend beyond 8 hours (overtime will be paid).
Who can do this job?The following are preferred attributes/skills:
  • Mechanical related Associates degree.
  • Experience in the process control industry.
  • Knowledge of analyzing, evaluating, diagnosing, and resolving equipment and process related problems is strongly preferred.
Other basic qualifications include:
  • 3 years of working knowledge and experience with valves, machining, welding, or fabricating.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and ability to work efficiently and effectively within a business system.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer relations skills.
  • Leadership ability.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills.
This position requires an above-average work ethic and a positive attitude. This person will be trained on and expected to learn the Emerson products we represent and the engineering services we provide.
