Job Details
As the Lead Product Development Engineer for Appliances, you'll lead new product development, including concept, definition, commercialization, release to mass production, and continued product improvements. You'll often represents Exclusive Brands, working closely with external companies such as system integrators, technology providers, and standards organizations in the design and commercialization of new products. You'll collaborate with your counterparts on the engineering team to meet product requirements and address technical issues to ensure products meet company specifications. You'll also provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers on the team. This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days from home or other non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process. What you'll do
Lead the development of assigned major appliances and related products in collaboration with US- and Asia-based product engineers
Work closely with both internal and external partners to address all technical issues and ensure products meet Best Buy standards
Help develop and manage engineering project schedules and collaborate with cross-functional team members to ensure the overall master schedule is up to date
Coordinate with appropriate internal and external parties to ensure that all technical, regulatory, and compliance project deliverables are completed
Closely work with the supplier quality engineering team to review and address customer feedback and product return data
Help lead the development and maintenance of product specifications, product roadmaps and development strategy
Basic qualifications
10 years of experience in a hands-on product design and development engineering role in connected major appliances or related products (e.g. laundry, ranges, dishwashers, refrigerators, etc.)
10 years of experience interfacing with a wide variety of internal and external partners and organizations in the development of major appliances or similar high-volume products
5 years of experience in technical project management involving multiple projects in a matrixed organization
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to travel internationally approximately 10-20% of the year for project and supplier meetings
Preferred qualifications
Bachelor's degree or above in electrical, computer or mechanical engineering or related technical discipline
Experience with AHAM (Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers) standards
