Expand Yu is a third-party case management support service posting on behalf of clients participating in California's Self-Determination Program (SDP). Candidates will be hired by clients directly or by the client's chosen hiring agency, not by Expand Yu.

Summary

Seeking a part-time, in-home assistant in Elk Grove for an adult with disabilities. Primary job responsibilities are cooking and cleaning.

The best fit for this role is someone who enjoys cooking and cares about cleanliness and safety, and who requires little direction to complete their work after on-boarding. Skill in planning and communication is highly valued.

Job Responsibilities

Cooking

· Cooking meals for one person a few times a week, including cleaning up and storing food properly.

· Assist employer with their cooking once per week, including ensuring safety while using the stove, cleaning up, and storing food properly.

· Assist with meal planning and grocery store shopping.

Cleaning

· Clean home regularly.

· Sometimes clean together with employer.

· Assist with organizing and tidying up.

· Sanitize high use surfaces regularly.

Wellness Check-Ins

· Check key wellness signs with each visit.

· Additional virtual check-ins via phone or video call may be needed on days not supporting in person.

Schedule:

Trial Period will last for 1 month. If considered a good fit, position will be considered permanent and more hours may be available (below 20hrs/week).

People looking to pick up only occasional shifts (based on availability) after completing on-boarding will be considered.

Position not scheduled to start until July 1st. Please make sure this is okay with you before applying.

Compensation

Approximately $22 per hour starting wage with increases available based on performance and job fit.

Additional Details

There is a room available for rent on the premises. Live-in worker arrangements can be considered after passing background check. Additional details available if interested.

Work start date estimated May 1st or later. Immediate start not available for this position at this time.

Position will require a full background check (Live Scan). You the employee must pay for the Live Scan out of pocket. Exact cost depends on location but will be about $50-75. This is a ONE TIME cost paid to the Live Scan provider (not to the employer or to Expand Yu). Once you have completed this Live Scan, you can work for any SDP participant without needing a new Live Scan completed.
