OFF-ROAD TOURINSTRUCTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

FLSA Status:Part-Time Non-Exempt

Reports to: VP of Track Operations and Off-Road Tour

Manager

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Hiring Window: Currently accepting applications

 start date of the beginning of December 2023

Job Summary

As an Off-Road Tour Instructor, you will act as the point of contact for the guest’s driving experience to include check in and out, assigning off-road vehicles such as side-by-sides or ATV’s and guiding them on the off-road tour in a safe manner to ensure they have a comfortable and fun driving experience.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Great guests in a friendly and courteous manner
  • Create positive customer relations 
  • Maintain a friendly and helpful attitude to ensure that participants have a safe and enjoyable experience 
  • Ensure guests read COVID-19 information
  • Provide information about off-road vehicles (side-by-side and ATV),thedriving experience, ride-a-longs,etc., including customer promotions
  • Ensure guests wear masks, gloves, and sanitize hands before their driving experience
  • Disinfect helmet with spray, place on dryer rack and place in helmet room practicing enhanced disinfecting
  • Wash towels as needed
  • When coaching:
    • Assist with briefing guests for their experience on how to drive theoff-road vehicles (side-by-side and ATV)and coach them during their experience
    • Upsell guests to purchaseadditional driving experiences when needed with same and different cars and trucks
    • At the end of the day, pull and fuel vehicles, clean off-road vehicles practicing enhanced disinfecting techniques(inside and outside) and then park in their appropriate spot.
  • When Briefing:
    • Follow provided briefing script and inform guests of tour route, driving technique, and speed limits
    • Answer and discuss any guest concerns regarding the safety of the tourside-by-sides, and ATV’s
    • Practice enhanced disinfecting to include hand washing, cleaning seats, chairs, reading materials, clip boards and pens
    • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • MUST be over the age of 25 MUST be able to ride a side-by-side and ATV with the ability to look backwards and talking on the radio 
  • MUST be able to remain calm under pressure 
  • MUST keep the safety of guests at the forefront of operations, both during transit and on tour
  • MUST be able to communicate clearly with guests and company using text message, phone call, etc. 
  • Can drive a 15-passenger van 
  • MUST be able to change a flat tire 
  • Valid driver license with CDL (Commercial Driver s License) Class A endorsement required (to drive trucks for OHV transportation) (preferred
  • 3-year clean NDR (required)
  • CPR Certification (can be done post-hire)
  • AED Certification (can be done post-hire)
  • Previous ATV tour/trail guide experience (strongly preferred) 
  • MUST be able to pass criminal background check and drug test and no history of active drug and/or alcohol use 
  • MUST have the ability to work in the heat or cold for extended periods of time 
  • MUST have the ability to multitask between paperwork, email communication, cell phone communication, and computer tablet usage 
  • MUST have the ability to deal with physical demands of the position 
  • MUST be willing to work flexible hours including holidays 
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds
  • First aid knowledge preferred (but not required)

  • Advanced knowledge in the use of iPads or other tablet technology

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit in an off-road vehicle for extended periods of time; to run; to talk and hear; to stand; to walk to site; use hands; to see and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly drive an off-road vehicle at speeds up to 50 miles per hour on a tour route.Employees are occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 75 pounds; be able to work in outside temperatures of up to 120 F in summer and 30 F in winter and regularly hear loud, repetitive noise.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position is part time and regularly requires early morning, late night, and weekend shifts.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED (General Education Development)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Two years of off-road driving experience
