The Potential Candidate

We are seeking a skilled and experienced individual to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in cooking, food preparation, and plating. A current Food Handlers or Sanitation certification is required. A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary, with preference given to those who have completed culinary coursework. Organization is key, as the candidate should be adept at maintaining preparation instructions and recipes. An ability to exhibit a team-oriented approach is crucial, and the candidate should be ready to assume other kitchen responsibilities if needed. The role involves working efficiently under high-volume conditions, especially during special events and holidays. A positive and cooperative attitude is expected to contribute to our dynamic culinary environment.

The Position

As a Line Cook, you will have a range of responsibilities to ensure a seamless dining experience for our guests. The cook we're looking for will expertly season and prepare all foods according to specifications and any special requirements. You'll play a key role in expediting service by assisting with additional food preparations as needed. Following strict sanitation and hygiene practices is a must, including wearing proper apparel and any necessary personal protection equipment. Ensuring the safe storage of unused products, minimizing waste, and maintaining cleanliness in all food prep and storage areas are essential responsibilities. Familiarity with menus and the ability to prepare special dietary restrictions is required. Your daily tasks will include preparing workstations for menus and special offerings, having thorough knowledge of all menu items, and promptly notifying the Chef of any shortages or stock needs. Flexibility is key, as you should be ready to assist in various food prep areas as needed. This role also entails standing and walking for 3-5 hours at a time, occasionally carrying trays weighing up to 30 lbs.

The History

Founded in 1896 as Illinois' third golf club, Exmoor is a private, full-service country club, located in Highland Park, Illinois, 28 miles north of Chicago. With a championship golf course designed by Donald J. Ross, Exmoor continues to fulfill its original mission as a family club devoted to the game of golf, while offering a growing range of sports and social opportunities. Sports at Exmoor include golf, curling, tennis, swimming, ice skating, platform tennis, cross-country skiing, and the fastest-growing sport in America, pickleball. Members of all ages enjoy a year-round schedule of exciting social activities.
