Primary Purpose

The position is an executive-level regulatory and government affairs position for Exelon. The primary purpose is to provide strategic guidance to the corporation regarding the advocacy and implementation of federal regulatory issues affecting the company; to develop and leverage relationships with key regulatory, executive and legislative bodies, particularly the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC); and to provide oversight and strategy for achieving company objectives regarding regulatory and public policy issues of interest to Exelon from a federal perspective. The position is responsible for educating and influencing regulators, external stakeholders, and policymakers regarding Exelon regulatory and policy positioning through engaged and consistent interaction with senior federal officials, national trade associations, key stakeholders and ad-hoc coalitions. Responsibilities also include monitoring rulemakings and key regulatory matters in support of the company's interests. The position reports to the Senior Vice President of Federal and Corporate Affairs.

Primary Duties and Accountabilities

Develop and implement strategies to promote Federal regulatory proposals and positions to benefit Exelon. Work closely with Exelon senior management, business unit heads and their designees to identify and assess issues of importance to Exelon customers, employees and shareholders and identify regulatory and public policy objectives for key issues. Work with internal subject matter experts, consultants, trade associations and other allies to develop and implement strategy for achieving regulatory and public policy objectives.

Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key regulatory bodies, most importantly FERC officials and staff.

Develop and maintain strategic relationships with members of Congress and staff, as well as key Administration officials and staff.

Promote Exelon regulatory positions with other energy companies, national trade associations, coalitions, and other key allies. Identify traditional and non-traditional allies to promote regulatory and policy objectives.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum four-year college degree.

Minimum of 15 years professional experience with management and leadership responsibilities in the electric and gas industry or in government, at least seven (7) years of which have been involved in the federal regulatory arena.

A complete understanding of the Federal regulatory process and strong understanding of the Federal legislative process.

A fundamental understanding of the electric and gas energy industry and key regulatory and public policy issues affecting the industry.

An ability to understand complex issues and the implications of current financial, energy, legal and labor issues for Exelon and the industry.

Strong consultative and interpersonal skills to work with diverse groups of individuals inside and outside large companies including CEOs, presidents and their staffs, regulatory bodies, federal elected and appointed officials, advocacy organizations, trade and business associations, foundations, political organizations, and public interest groups.

Must have exceptional oral and written communication and presentation skills.

Absolute integrity and discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

BA or BS degree in business, engineering, political science, public policy or related field.

Law degree or master's degree in business, engineering, political science, public policy or related field

A wide network of contacts within the business community, federal government, elected officials, and public interest groups.

Leadership positions in external trade associations, coalitions or industry organization.
