PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Provides outstanding customer service to internal and external customers. Responsible for the rigging, transportation and distribution of materials and equipment. Duties include: Performs distribution activities relating to the rigging and transportation of materials and equipment. Responsible for the operation of material handling and heavy lifting equipment utilized by the Stores Department, which includes tractor trailers, tanker trucks, load handlers and forklifts. Responsible for complying with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and all Corporate Commercial Motor Vehicles Policies and Procedures, which includes pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and daily driving logs.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience demonstrating skill operating tractor trailers/tankers.
  • Experience demonstrating skill rigging materials and equipment and securing cargo for transportation and distribution.
  • Working knowledge of all Federal, State, and local Commercial Motor Vehicle laws and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Department of Transportation hazardous materials regulations, including vehicle placarding.
  • Basic familiarity with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, including pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and daily driving logs.
  • Must possess a Class A Operator's License (Commercial Driver's License) with proper endorsements (including hazardous materials, air brakes, and combination vehicles) and a valid medical examiner's certificate.
  • Experience demonstrating skill reading, writing, speaking and understanding English sufficient to understand instructions, interact with others in English and complete daily driving logs, pre- and post-vehicle inspections, and shipping documents.
  • Ability and willingness to operate all types of material handling and heavy lifting equipment in compliance with OSHA Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and Corporate Commercial Motor Vehicle Policies and Procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain all appropriate licenses and certifications required for this classification (for example, CDL, Radio Operator's Permit, medical examiner's certificate). This includes obtaining and maintaining certification for controlled hazardous substance transportation.
  • Ability and willingness to successfully pass required random U.S. Department of Transportation drug tests.
  • Ability and willingness to perform physically challenging tasks for extended periods of time (for example, lifting up to 50 pounds, entering and exiting trailers, bending, twisting, kneeling, pulling/pushing, standing, walking, and squatting).
  • Ability and willingness to work at a variety of work locations and job sites.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments including outdoors in all weather conditions and in noisy and dirty environments with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability and willingness to wear and use safety equipment as required by federal, state, local and company regulations.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime and shift work as required.
  • Must successfully pass qualification tests.
  • Must successfully pass a Criminal History Background Check.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Preferred:

  • Experience demonstrating skill operating load handlers and forklifts.
  • Experience completing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and daily driving logs.
  • Experience demonstrating skill working within a warehouse environment.
