Description Purpose:

The Pharmacy Technician will assist the pharmacy team and worth together to ensure that the pharmacy guest receives the best service possible. Your job will entail all aspects of non-sterile medication compounding under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Other duties include typing prescriptions, answering phone calls, and filling prescriptions for our patients.

Qualifications:

Perform basic computer skills (preferably be able to type minimum 40-50 words per minute). Communicate compassion, sensitivity, and understanding while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Expectations:

Conform to pharmacy dress code, appearance, and personal hygiene standards. Visible tattoos must be covered and piercings, other than ears, must be removed. Be flexible in scheduling. Maintain prompt, regular, and dependable attendance as scheduled. Comply with all federal, state, location regulations, and our policies.

Essential Job Functions

Work as a team with co-workers. Ability to read a prescription. Knowledgeable of customer data required to fill a prescription. Input new prescription data into the computer and identify all necessary data. Input compounding data into the compounder. Measure and combine medication ingredients. Handle compounding equipment. Input third party information, possess knowledge of the data requirements, and correct third party exceptions. Ability to locate and identify the medication, count or pour the medication, label the prescription container, and verify the labeling accuracy. Handle incoming and outgoing phone calls from doctors offices, insurance providers, and patients. Order, check in and stock RX and OTC products. Maintain pharmacy files, both physical and electronic. Ability to perform all pharmacy cashier responsibilities. Understand and perform all delivery procedures. Assist with Inventory Control. Perform expired drug checks. Work actions include standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, squatting, etc.
