Job Description
The Floorcare Lead Technician is responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surfaces and carpet (stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, bonneting & top scrubbing recoating) of areas that include offices, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other public areas such as break rooms. The lead Technician will oversee the floor crew and be the main point of contact for floor care and maintenance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Always obey all safety requirements and procedures.
• Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment before use.
• Recommend or order parts needed for damaged or broken equipment.
• Secure the work area and post proper safety notices for other users of the space before beginning work.
• Floor care, including routine mopping (dry and damp), buffing, and burnishing on hard surface floors and stairwells.
• Vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting, and extracting carpets, stairwells, and upholstery.
• Maintenance and minor repair of floor care equipment.
• Moving furniture before and after cleaning.
• Cleaning, dusting, mopping, stripping, waxing floors & top scrubbing recoating.
• Measuring chemicals correctly.
• Operating chemical dispensing units.
• Labeling chemicals correctly.
• Cleaning, maintaining, and storing equipment and PPE proficiently.
• Keeping an inventory of floor areas, and scheduling cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Reporting maintenance issues to the supervisor. Train staff on the proper use of cleaning equipment and safety precautions.
• Recommends maintenance and repair work to buildings, furnishings, and equipment.
• Makes frequent inspections of work.
• Work hand in hand with the Senior Director of Operations to plan and schedule the floor care of different areas throughout our various campuses weekly, monthly, quarterly or during Holiday breaks or as needed.
• Performs related work as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of:
• Custodial best practices.
• Inventory management principles and practices.
• Safety procedures.
• Project management principles.
Skills:
• Knowledge of how to stripe, wax, buff floors, and top scrubbing recoating with minimal to no assistance.
• Knowledge of operating various pieces of equipment necessary to effectively
• Perform job functions, such as a high-speed buffer, extractor, wet vac, pressure washer, auto scrubber.
• Ability to understand and follow directions from the Senior Director of Operations.
• Required to use specialized, power equipment.
• Must be a team player and committed to working in a quality environment.
• Prioritizing work and multi-tasking.
• Recommending, implementing, and monitoring policies, procedures, and workflow.
• Working with diverse academic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff
