Auction Prepper - Impound/Wrecker Auctions (Towing Industry)

Job Overview
The Auction Prepper maintains and organizes vehicles and other items on the auction lot. The Prepper is responsible for checking for vehicle keys, removing and safely securing personal items left in the cars, and the general organization of vehicles on the lot. They are responsible for basic maintenance and the cleanliness of vehicles that are being prepared for auction.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Clean and wipe out vehicles
- Remove license plates of vehicles
- Vacuum and wash vehicles
- Clean up the yard and remove hazardous items such as scrap metal and nails on the ground etc.
- Air up and/or change tires as needed
- Start vehicles to decide if they move/run
- Collect vehicle odometer readings
- Remove personal items left in the vehicles and log the items properly and securely.
Required Skills/Abilities: (All other duties as assigned)
- Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision.
- Ability to work with others.
- Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the job or the ability to learn.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Good written and verbal communication.
- Must be reliable and willing to work any shift when necessary, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to use or learn how to use basic hand tools.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Some mechanical knowledge required or equivalent experience.
- Basic mathematical skills and reading and writing skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions.
