SUMMARY
The Structural Staff Engineer will assist the Project Manager in project planning and design, with a focus on meeting essential deadlines and fostering effective collaboration among project team members and various design disciplines. This individual will be a valuable member of a dynamic team dedicated to a diverse portfolio of projects that encompass planning, design, and engineering services in both solar and utility fields. The Structural Staff Engineer will report directly to the Project Manager.
The position is located in Eden Prairie, MN.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the preparation of structural designs and drawings of solar related foundations and support structures
- Assist in project specification research, determine applicable building codes, and ensure specific project requirements are addressed in design
- Apply department and relevant standards to prepare calculations and drawings in accordance with project specifications
- Coordinate with internal multi-disciplinary teams to address structural-related issues or concerns
- Provide drafting support in AutoCAD in the production of the structural design plans
- Driven and cast-in-place deep foundation design and inspection
- Perform pile design, foundation design, and construction quality control
- Apply geotechnical and corrosion recommendations in design
QUALIFICATIONS
- 0-3 years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering in a civil/structural engineering program from an ABET accredited four-year college or university program.
- Preferred master's degree with a structural emphasis
- Ability to utilize spreadsheets, databases, word processing and computer operations
- Working knowledge with codes including: IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, PCI, NDS
- You have working knowledge and skills in: AutoCAD, MS Office, MathCad, Risa 3D, or other FEA, RISA Foundation and LPile or similar
The position is located in Eden Prairie, MN.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for CAD drafting and plan production using EVS standards
- Complete basic redlines and perform basic aspects of design
- Works to understand EVS’ quality program and applies these principles to all project work
- Accountable for checking work as well as other engineers’ designs and calculations, to ensure alignment to quality assurance and control requirements
- Actively participates in and contributes to department and project team discussions
QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior engineering experience highly preferred
- Experience with and knowledge of CAD
- Self-starter, frequent and ongoing training to learn new design software and techniques
- Knowledge of basic engineering principles
- Demonstrated ability and desire to improve quality and create efficiencies
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general management of data
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Positive and professional attitude
