GE Johnson Construction Company is Hiring an Equipment Operator II Near Denver, CO
A Senior Earthworks Equipment Operator skillfully and proficiently operates heavy equipment to lift, move or place materials or to clear and level land.
Support and adhere to safety standards, programs, and initiatives. Adhere to housekeeping standards (including cleaning fences, materials, stockpiles, stormwater tasks and equipment) and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) requirements. Identify safety hazards on the job and work to address them as appropriate; handle the concerns or escalate to Foreman. Determine when spotters are needed and/or serve as a spotter as appropriate. Follow safety protocol and maintain situational awareness, to include inspecting equipment daily, establishing eye contact, and watching for pinch points, traffic, public, etc. Adhere to the dig permit and review of as-builts for dig area.
Mentor Equipment Operator 1s. Provide explanations for understanding, teach skills on-the-job, and provide coaching and feedback to drive continued learning. Confirm the quality of Equipment Operator 1 work as conducted.
Proficiently operate heavy equipment to include but not limited to: mini-excavator, loader, backhoe, compactor, skid steer, excavator, grader, and bulldozer.
Complete jobsite tasks self-sufficiently or as directed by the Foreman. Review plans to understand the work to be completed, read and interpret blueprints and drawings, and consult with the Foreman when clarification is needed. Check equipment levels daily and grease machines and refuel as needed; inform Foreman for entry into daily inspection log. Move or load heavy loads for crew. Assist project crew with other tasks as available. Serve as the Foreman delegate, as requested.
Adhere to the project schedule by measuring work completed daily. Escalate to the Foreman if additional resources are needed, there are schedule concerns, or if there are equipment issues and alternate equipment is required.
Uphold quality of work by determining the best course of action to meet the needs of the job. Apply an understanding of earthwork terminology and the construction industry to execute with excellence. Ensure dirt is the right elevation (grade). Escalate any quality concerns and work with the Foreman to troubleshoot and problem solve.
Build partnerships with subcontractors by supporting subcontractor safety adherence, communicating plans, and collaborating to ensure harmony during the work process, and assisting subcontractors with moving materials between areas as needed.
Follow directions and adhere to company procedures. Apply an understanding of construction, industry equipment terminology to execute with excellence. Submit time entry in a timely manner. Comprehend and apply instructions and ask questions as needed.

Work may require occasional weekend and evening work. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work Full time. Work may necessitate a flexible schedule and/or extended hours when required by project schedule. Travel Ability to travel to various jobsites where GE Johnson conducts business. Ability to relocate to jobsites for project assignments. Ability to travel to multiple locations or job sites daily or weekly as needed. Required Education and Experience
Prior construction experience
Heavy equipment operating certificate(s)
Ability to read plans, drawings and/or blueprints
Experience operating and maintaining loaders, backhoes, excavators
Experience reading grade stakes
Extensive experience with GPS systems (3D modeling software)
