In this role, you will
Responsible for analysis and creation of simulation software products. Develops, modifies, and executes software test plans, automated scripts and programs for testing. Analyzes and contributes to test standards and procedures. Ensures proper documentation of test results to assist in debugging and modification of software. Reviews and provides analysis on test results to ensure existing functionality meets specifications. In cases where this isn't true; recommends corrective action(s) to the Test Engineering teams. Regular consultation with multiple software engineering groups to drive resolutions to surfaced issues/bugs/problems.
Required Qualifications
  • Advise Motion Planning on the proper validation available/required in order to test a specific autonomy capability in simulation.
  • Provide guidance on test efficacy when Motion Planning is determining whether to preserve or retire a simulation.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings to address simulation news, updates, and blockers.
  • Help inform workflows for Scenario Generation to properly locate and resolve any non-desired interaction simulations surfaced by Test Evaluation or Motion Planning.
  • Satisfy impromptu Motion Planning Developer sim requests so they can test their software changes as quickly as possible.
  • Assist Motion Planning on the development of project recipes so that sim creation can be standardized and expedited.
  • Speak to the progress for our quarterly goals each week, surfacing potential risks, solutions, and wins.
  • Aid Test Engineers in determining which validation is appropriate for structured tests dependent upon the intended interaction being tested.
  • Resolve build and validation questions/issues surfaced by customers.
  • Design recipe documentation that can be interpreted by various customers to understand the logic behind a test's structure / build instructions.
  • Collaborate with various Motion Planning and Test Evaluation DRIs to ensure test design, curation, identification, and development is consistent across capabilities.
  • Bridge the gap between Motion Planning and the sim tooling team members to develop new validation in order to satisfy new or more complicated test requirements.
  • Identify automated workflow solutions to expedite test creation
  • Work with the Symphony team to streamline UI/UX design as well as individual features to better improve the tool and make sim creation easier.
  • Surface blockers or workflow improvement suggestions to SG leadership to improve test output.
  • Build new, and modify existing simulations in order to meet the team's quarterly targets.
The base salary range for this position is $27 - $35.25 per hour. Aurora's pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate's starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
