EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Education: College (AS/BS/BA) and CVT required
• Experience: 5 years ER/ICU experience as CVT minimum; 3 years supervisory experience as ER/ICU lead/head of ER/ICU

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction and supervision of the practice owners, the ICU Veterinary Technician supervisor will support and bolster high-quality veterinary medicine and patient care—with the expertise and technical know-how to implement and maintain. The ICU Veterinary Technician Supervisor must be dedicated to creating a healthy work environment where all employees are supported, empowered, and provided opportunities for professional growth through fostering agency and team-oriented culture and community. They also apply their professional skills in intensive animal care and husbandry, laboratory testing, patient nursing, and client education. The ICU veterinary technician supervisor has extensive experience with 5 years of experience in the field of a veterinary ICU(or possibly ER), 3 of those years as a supervisory role, and certification in the state of Colorado (or is willing to transfer their current license).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Implementing department policies and procedures
• Establishing technical protocols
• Scheduling staff and conducting team meetings
• Managing schedule changes and staffing emergencies
• Enforcing charge captures
• Accurately handling and recording controlled drugs
• Record keeping
• Equipment maintenance
• Assisting in Inventory Management

• Controlled drug documentation/Cubex
• Directing the organization of patient treatment areas
• Selecting and hosting appropriate internal/external trainings for the teams
• Assisting in the interviewing and hiring of new ER staff including technicians and technician assistants
• Participating in routine performance evaluations for all supervised staff members
• Facilitating and maintaining appropriate workflow of the ER Department
• Attending regular departmental and leadership meetings
• Other duties as assigned by your supervisor
