EverSource is Hiring a Manager, Emergency Preparedness Training (Hybrid) Near Southborough, MA

*This is a hybrid role. The first three months are fulltime in the office.*
Responsible for the development, and effective implementation of the Eversource Emergency Preparedness Training and Exercise Program ensuring its efficacy and consistency across all Eversource business units. Oversees the Emergency Position Assignment Process to ensure all employees are assigned an emergency position and receive the proper training to fulfill their assigned position. Manages the development, maintenance and control of the Emergency Preparedness Documentation Program including development of standardized processes, published documentation, and related training materials.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages the development and implementation of the Eversource Emergency Preparedness (EP) Training Program.
  • Develops, maintains and executes the EP Training and Exercise plan for Eversource.
  • Manages and conducts analysis to determine the training needs for initial, refresher, and just-in-time training for all emergency preparedness and response activities. 
  • Develops and maintains Emergency Preparedness Training Data Dashboard.
  • Ensures all emergency preparedness training is developed and delivered by the identified standards of the EP Training Program.
  • Collaborates with Eversource State EP Managers, Directors, and Subject Matter Experts to ensure that training needs are met and makes adjustments for continuously changing circumstances and emergent issues.
  • Manages and evaluates training activities for effectiveness based on objective data and appropriately designed evaluation tools.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of emergency preparedness exercises and drills to assess the efficacy of the organization’s abilities to respond during emergencies.
  • Works closely with the State and other external agencies (ISONE, FBI, Federal Agencies, other Utilities) to develop integrated Exercises.
  • Manages and conducts the facilitation of exercise debrief sessions in accordance with Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP) guidelines to identify areas of improvement and develop an “after action” report.
  • Ensures that all employees have an emergency position and are sufficiently trained to perform their assigned duties.
  • Ensures that the development of procedures and implementing processes adhere to established business requirements as they pertain to maintaining an effective Emergency Preparedness & Response Organization.
  • Manages the development, maintenance, and control of the Emergency Preparedness Documentation Program and Database.
  • Provides direction to direct report(s).

Qualifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill: 

  • Knowledge of training design and development using the Systematic Approach to Training.
  • Change management skills to pave the way for needed changes and manage the implementation of same effectively.
  • Ability to build relationships with a variety of people both up and down the management hierarchy, including officer levels.
  • Capacity to make sound decisions, solve problems creatively, and provide leadership.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytic skills to identify process gaps and recommend necessary changes for improvement.
  • Capability to work well under pressure.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Master’s degree in Business or Emergency Management is preferred.

Experience:

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in training, process improvement and documentation.
  • Knowledge of and experience with training program design/development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Exercise development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of and experience in technical writing.
  • Utility-related experience is preferred.
  • Emergency preparedness management is strongly preferred.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) certification is strongly preferred or must be willing to obtain certification within a timeframe established by the hiring manager.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $137,790.00 to $153,100.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment that requires sitting, standing and general movement throughout the office area. 
  • Must be able and available to occasionally respond to emergency conditions during off-hours and for extended periods of time.
