Eversight Vision is Hiring a Supervisor, Tissue Processing Near Chicago, IL

Summary

The Supervisor, Tissue Processing is responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the Tissue Processing department workflow in compliance with Eversight and EBAA Medical Standards as well as with state and federal regulations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for ensuring that shift staffing requirements are met through developing monthly staff schedules, reviewing the workload and scheduling on-call staff as needed.
  • During the shift, the Supervisor, Tissue Processing is responsible for problem resolution, monitoring and delegation of processing workflow, and statistical performance.
  • Demonstrate clinical competency to perform frontline department tasks; serve as a resource on these tasks.
  • Assist the manager with hiring, training and oversight of staff performance.
  • Coordinate intradepartmental in-service opportunities. Maintain training records for all processing staff.
  • Provide ongoing resource support to include coaching of individuals needing improvement.
  • Maintain professional relationships with physicians, their staff, hospital/surgical center staff, peers, other eye banks, and other agencies.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional organizations, etc.
  • Perform all responsibilities as needed including weekend and on-call functions.
  • Leads team effectively by demonstrating Eversight’s Frontline Leadership Competencies, and performs leadership activities of: performance management and coaching, training and development, expectation and priority setting, workflow management, hiring and retention, and corrective action.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the Mission and Values of Eversight.

Qualifications

Education: Undergraduate studies in related field preferred.

Experience: Tissue processing or Eye Bank experience experience required.

Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills and organizational skill. Ability to interact professionally with peers and healthcare staff.

Knowledge: Proficiency in MS Office

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Work is primarily performed in a normal office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time. Routine use of computer, phone and fax. Limited noise, room temperature fluctuation and dust are possible. Must be available to work any shift, any day of the week to meet the needs of tissue processing and meeting placement requests.
