About the Role:

As a Member Advocate, you're more than a caregiver – you're a champion, a mentor, and a friend. You'll bring joy, comfort, and empowerment to our members' lives. You'll lead exciting activities, share laughter over meals, and provide attentive care. Your work here isn't just a job; it's about creating a vibrant, fulfilling environment where every day is a journey towards new achievements.

Responsibilities:

As part of our team, everyone is expected to have a “can do”, positive attitude and roll up their sleeves to help with whatever is needed. As a Member Advocate, below is a list of tasks you will be expected to accomplish:

Deliver a range of activities to groups of seniors ranging from 3-4 people and up to 10-15 people per activity. Activities can include:

  • Activities Fitness: (chair yoga, stretch band exercises, Tai Chi, nature walks).
  • Cognitive: (Small table activities, short-term memory activities).
  • Musical: (Karaoke, musical bingo, group singing).
  • Reflective: (Mindful breathing, open discussions).
  • Other activities as assigned.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Learn and operate TV activities, Rendever VR system, and computer activities scheduling system, StoriiCare.
  • Member Advocates will eat alongside members during program meal times, offering assistance as needed. Advocates will help in setting up lunch and cleaning up afterwards.
  • Provide dignified care, celebrating the small victories and supporting independence.
  • This can include toileting reminders or assistance, and in some rare occasions, incontinence care.
  • Assisting with member transfers and aspects of light care. For example, helping a member transfer from their walker to the toilet, or from a wheelchair to a dining table. Other examples include changing a member’s pants or briefs (if, for example, they were soiled).

Other tasks:

  • Help set up and break down our studio, which can include lifting certain items that may weigh up to 15 pounds.
  • Assist with light cleaning, including sweeping and wiping down surfaces.
  • Attend all meetings and training sessions as required.

Skills:

  • Experience in customer service, health care or similar field.
  • Excellent communication skills, and empathy.
  • Flexible, adaptable and ready to meet the unique needs of each day.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Dress code:

  • Member Advocates will follow the Employee Dress Code.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
