Evergreen Public Schools is Hiring a Summer School - Intro to Teaching (Early Childhood Education) - Instructor (6218) Near Vancouver, WA

2023 - 2024 School Year

Summer School - Monday, June 24th through Friday, July 12th. 14 days = 1 planning day 13 instructional days. 7.5 hours per day. 7:45am-3:45pm with a .50 lunch. July 4th & 5th are non-work/non-paid.

This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected.

Evergreen Public Schools (EPS) offers the following to eligible employees who work at least 630 hours in a school year:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage and teach Intro. to Teaching Summer School class.
  • Assume student supervisory responsibilities as assigned.
  • Implement the Teaching Academy state framework and evaluate daily instruction units to reflect current industry methods and practices.
  • Evaluate student classroom management and lab experiences, maintain appropriate student records and report student progress to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment; safe and pleasant classroom atmosphere using effective classroom management and discipline procedures. Develop and maintain good instructor/student communication and rapport.
  • Organize, manage and appropriately maintain the instructional facility, equipment and resources which will serve as a positive model to students and provide a safe working environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Qualifies for a Washington State Career and Technical Education Teaching Certificate.
  • Minimum of six years of elementary teaching experience with two years of this work experience within the past six years.
  • Prior Career & Technical Education teaching and/or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to effectively present and teach.
  • Ability to relate to high school-aged students.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of an instructional team.
  • Demonstrated ability in positive human relations.
  • Demonstrated organizational ability.
  • Experience and/or training or willingness to take course work to increase knowledge and use of the following instructional and management strategies to include: First Aid/CPR, Anti-Bias, Project Based Learning, Standards Based Grading, Restorative Justice, Equity and Trauma Informed Practices in Education.

  1. Knowledge/awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior, and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others.

  3. Initiates activities and discussions that lead to increased cultural competence of staff, informing and expanding teaching practices within classrooms.
  4. Models instructional leadership and demonstrates a strong commitment to equitable outcomes for all students.
  5. Ability to recognize each person as a unique individual even as we celebrate their group cultural heritage.
