260 day Contract /Non-Rep

Essential Functions:

  • Supports and assists in the implementation of the district Vision, Strategic Plan by providing leadership in general education and on behalf of the Multilingual Department.
  • Supports and/or oversees structures, practices and procedures relevant to Transitional Bilingual Instructional Programs, Title III, Title VII and Dual Language Education. 
  • Collaborates with others (e.g., district personnel, across departments, parents/guardians, students, community organizations, etc.) implementing and maintaining quality services and/or programs for multilingual learners.
  • Manages and/or leads professional learning on Multilingual Education, dual language, and other multilingual programs, predominantly for Secondary Education.
  • Coordinates and oversees the development of written reports, guidance, tools, and curriculum resources conveying information required to support quality instruction for multilingual learners.
  • Coordinates program components in assigned areas, support needs and materials (e.g., language testing, negotiating contracts with vendors, adoptions, supplemental resources, deadline, compliance, etc.) meeting district and/or grant/program guidelines.
  • Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records (e.g., budgetary, professional learning, grants, audit documents, guides, and resources, etc.) providing up-to-date reference, data and demographic information and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
  • Monitors fund balances of assigned programs/efforts and related financial activity ensuring that expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed.
  • Participates in and leads meetings, workshops, training, and seminars (e.g., supporting school districts, etc.) conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Prepares a variety of program-mandated reports compliance with district and/or grant program requirements.
  • Presents information to school district and Parent & Community Advisory Committees (e.g., program offerings, funding status, participation levels, etc.) promoting programs, gaining feedback, and complying with established internal controls.
  • Provides leadership, consultation and technical assistance to districts and schools facilitating effective program design and implementation for multilingual learners (e.g. multilingual learners identified or suspected of having a disability, school improvement efforts, addressing & problem-solving disproportionate outcomes across the system). 
  • Facilitates assessment processes with district and site teams, assists LEAs in conducting Multilingual data analysis, identifying improvement strategies, preparing reports, and evaluating ML and dual language education program effectiveness.
  • Advocates for equity and access to rich education programs focused on research-based Multilingual Learner best instructional and program practices.
  • Supports and coordinates recruiting, hiring, training, and supervision of ML staff members, at times includes co-evaluating ML staff
  • Maintain a positive relationship with students, staff, parents, and community by modeling respect, cooperation, and professionalism with others, recognizing the personal achievements and professional contributions of others and demonstrating knowledge of a sensitivity toward individuals and groups from all racial, ethnic/cultural, national socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Develops cultural competence and a commitment to equity in outcomes and opportunities for adults and students

a) Leads for equity towards college and career readiness.

b) Nurtures a school environment that celebrates, respects, and values diversity where teaching and learning are made relevant and meaningful to students of various cultures.

c) Publicly draws attention to all equity gaps that exist for various groups of students with plans to address their elimination.

d) Initiates activities and discussions that lead to increased cultural competence of staff, informing and expanding teaching practices within classrooms.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum six or more years relevant educational experience in secondary education.
  • Valid Washington Administrator Certificate required.
  • Valid EL Endorsement required.
  • Master's Degree or higher in education or related field.
  • Knowledge of current Multilingual Education program guidelines, recommended research-based practice, State Language Proficiency Assessments and content learning standards. 
  • Ability to demonstrate effective written and oral communications with diverse community members to include students, staff, parents and community stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth.
  • Demonstrated school and/or district administration and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as an active, productive, and integral member of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize available technology.
  • Preferred Bilingual Proficiency
  • Preferred Secondary Teaching Experience 
  • Preferred Secondary Administrative Experience
  • Preferred three (3) years of experience conducting professional development and/or coaching for educators serving culturally-linguistically diverse students in a variety of instructional settings, including multilingual program
