Job Title: Director of Mission Performance and Development
Salary Range: $90,000-105,000
About the Position:
The Director of Mission Performance & Development is responsible for ensuring that programs tailored for both students and employees meet the standards of quality and effectiveness. The Director is focused on elevating the impact and growth of Goodwill’s mission programming services: quality control over service delivery, staffing, and program data. Partnering with Mission Leadership team, the Director will drive the development, launch, and success of Mission’s strategic plan, prioritizing new, sustainable programs and expanding initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
Program Performance:
  • Responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality and effective student and employee programs, overseeing instruction, case management, employment services, and industry and career navigation.
  • Oversee instructor training, observation, and feedback to ensure relevant and effective curriculum development that is aligned with student and community needs assessment.
  • Develop and uphold policies and procedures for the department, conducting team meetings to ensure adherence to program requirements and organizational policies. Collaborate with the Director of Operations to ensure compliance.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Operations, oversee all aspects of staff development, including building staff capacity through professional development and evaluating performance.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance departmental efficiency and service effectiveness for employee programs and services.
Growth and Development Strategies:
  • Formulate and execute growth strategies for Mission Job Training & Education (JTE) Centers and Mission Investment, contributing to the achievement of strategic program and goals.
  • Spearhead and develop of project delivery plans and their associated key performance indicators to strategically drive and optimize growth initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Mission Director and leadership team to develop and integrate growth, projects and inter-center activities fostering learning communities, company meetings, and other team building opportunities.
Leadership & Administration:
  • Use data and reports to ensure service delivery targets and quality goals are met.
  • Oversee caseloads of support service staff and provide support to those teams.
  • Responsible to support, advance, and contribute to a DEI framework that will guide the departments and Evergreen Goodwill’s decisions, practices and policies.
  • Assist the Sr. VP of Mission, and in collaboration with students and staff, in the implementation of department-wide and student-centered initiatives.
  • Assist the Sr. VP of Mission and Director team in the development, execution, and sustainability of key strategic outcome-based initiatives.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings and develop and deliver presentations.
  • Support community engagement opportunities including (but not limited to): attending and representing Evergreen Goodwill at community meetings and events; speaking to community partners; engaging volunteers and donors; serving on city, county, state, and GII committees and taskforces; participating in roundtables and on panels.
  • Upholds safe work practices in support of a safety culture through awareness and observation; train and educate employees of safety requirements; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Direct supervision of Curriculum Manager and Performance and Development Manager, and any other assigned employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Goodwill’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; monitoring performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. Partner with People Relations as needed and appropriate.
Position Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:
  • Master’s degree in social work, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education. Master’s Degree preferred; however, lived-experience and international experience considered in lieu of more traditional, U.S. achieved credentials. Knowledge of the local workforce, adult education and human services networks preferred.
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in nonprofit, public sector, workforce development or related field. Minimum five (5) years' experience in program implementation and outcomes tracking. Must have extensive knowledge of workforce issues and trends.
  • Minimum four (4) years of supervisory experience.
  • Exceptional ability to organize work, follow through on projects, anticipate project needs, function independently as well as part of a team, and work effectively with staff and volunteers.
  • Must be committed to creating and sustaining a learning environment in which students feel safe, supported and encouraged; foster an environment that is inclusive, culturally rich, and bias free.
  • Experience with curriculum development.
  • Ability to always practice confidentiality.
  • Remote and occasional evening and weekend work required.
  • Must be able to meet travel requirements of up to 40% of work time locally and statewide.
Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:
  • Must have valid WA driver’s license and proof of insurance.
Computer/Technology Skills:
  • Highly proficient with web-based applications (Google Workspace), video conferencing, budgetary tools, case management software, and Microsoft Office, including Dynamics.
  • Ability to learn new technology and software as related to the job.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required sit for long periods of time, communicate with other employees by talking and hearing and to operate computer systems. Able to safely lift/push/pull up to 25 lbs., grasp, handle, finger and manipulate items; perform repetitive fine motor functions with fingers, wrists, and arms, standing for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills. Maintain reliable attendance.

Work Environment: Office/classroom environment; the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must have reliable transportation, as this position requires travel to offsite meetings and events. Able to work a flexible schedule that may include occasional nights and weekends.
