Position Summary/General Description:

Performs semi-skilled electrical work. Assists a Journeymen Electrician on major projects or independently performs more routine electrical work. Including holding materials or tools and cleaning work area and equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit (both EMT and rigid, and wire mold).
  • Measure, cut, and install wires into conduit and makes proper connections.
  • Splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads and twisting wires together, and apply tape or terminal caps.
  • Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment. Install or replace control and distribution apparatus such as switches and circuit-breaker panels.
  • Connect power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and install grounding leads.
  • Perform electrical repairs to include, but not limited to, outlets, switches, and ballasts; remove and replace light fixtures; and repair appliances and faulty equipment and systems.
  • Investigate circuits to determine source, voltage, load, zone, etc.
  • Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as multi-meter, volt-ohm meter, amp-probe, etc. Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Performs other semi-skilled electrical work as assigned.
  • Coordinate with other trades in an ethical and professional manner and treat co-workers with integrity and respect.
  • Be a team player (e.g. work towards team goals and foster a collaborative and positive work environment; put the team first; assist coworkers; treat all coworkers with kindness, courtesy and respect; never engage in negativity; maintain openness to coaching, learning and improving; receptive to change and willingness to embrace challenges with team-spirit).
  • At all times foster and maintain a courteous, positive and professional working relationship with all personnel and the general public (e.g. clients and vendors).
  • Work under pressure; maintain regular and punctual attendance including working odd or unusual hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • One (1) year experience in electrical installation and repair preferred.

Licensing & Certification:

  • OSHA 10 Card or willingness to obtain one.

Computer Equipment, Software, Machinery:

  • Proficient in basic computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Requires knowledge and skill in the use of forklifts, scissor lifts, and hand and power tools required in the related trade.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • The job requires the ability to balance/climb, bend over, crawl, crouch/stoop, drive, hear, kneel, reach overhead, sit, stand, talk, turn/twist, walk and repetitively use hands 51-10% of the time.

Essential Mental Demands:

  • The job requires the ability to push/pull, carry, lift, and slide/transfer 1-50 lbs. 51-100% of the time.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Work Environment (inside/outside):

  • The job is performed indoors/outdoors with exposure to hot/cold temperatures, loud noises, and confined areas.

Other Requirements:

  • Must pass a pre-employment alcohol/drug screening.
