Everett Public Schools is Hiring a Chief Technology Officer Near Everett, MA

Position Title: Chief Technology Officer

Position Summary:

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) provides leadership to the Information and Technology Services area, including internal staffing and external vendor partners. She/he facilitates strategic planning including disaster recovery, cybersecurity, data management and strategic enterprise network. The CTO is the District leader responsible for all planning, coordination and management of major technology areas and initiatives for the District and also serves as the Chief Privacy Officer. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops, monitors, and implements the District’s vision for leveraging technology to support teaching, learning and student success, as well as all administrative functions of the District. 
  • Facilitates strategic plans including disaster recovery plan, cybersecurity plan, data governance/management plan, and strategic enterprise network planning. 
  • Serves as Chief Privacy Officer; and is the chief advisor to the Superintendent for all technology and cybersecurity areas. 
  • Assists with planning, coordination, and management of all major technology initiatives within Everett Public Schools. 
  • Leads research into industry trends for hardware and software and applies the trends to needs of the District. 
  • Compiles and updates a set of technology-related policies and procedures for the acquisition, use, and security of technology-related equipment and software. 
  • Evaluates proposed technology purchases for compatibility and compliance with school district standards. 
  • Coordinates the development of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and writes the technical bid specifications and the evaluation criteria for soliciting appropriate hardware and software vendors. 
  • Develops and executes a departmental budget, including contract management. 
  • Maintains an accurate department inventory and evaluates the requests made by schools and departments. 
  • Provides IT and Security Assessment Audits and makes recommendations to the Superintendent. 
  • Supervises the Manager of Technology and all IT vendor partnerships for the District. 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • 10 years experience in Information Technology in the area of educational technology, with 5 years experience as a CTO preferred. 
  • Cultural Competency and commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the operation, uses, and capabilities of computer and office technology equipment and basic maintenance. Must be thoroughly knowledgeable of the methods and practices used in providing required control and security of all data input and output in the system.

*Position is pending passage of FY25 budget approval.
