Job Summary/Basic Function:This position reports to the Dean of Math and Science. Prepare and teach General Microbiology for majors (Biology 260) and allied health as well as cellular for majors (Biology 211).
- Facilitate student learning by using a variety of lecture, discussion, laboratory, demonstration, technology-based, and collaborative formats.
- Identify and implement procedures/techniques to assess individual student learning, as well as achievement of course, program, and college learning outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications:- Masters degree in Biology or related field.
- Demonstrated competence in college instruction.
- Demonstrated commitment to or experience in effectively instructing students from diverse backgrounds including differences in culture, heritage, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, ability, class, and religion.
Preferred Qualifications:- Documented excellence in teaching college-level General Microbiology
- Demonstrated experience using a variety of different teaching modalities (such as lecture, discussion, group activities, etc.)
- Proficiency in curriculum and lesson development.
- A philosophy of education appropriate to the community college.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with other faculty in a collegial manner.
