Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Director of Operations for Professional and Technical Education supports daily operations for the Professional and Technical Education programs. These programs include: Advanced Manufacturing Training and Education Center (AMTEC), Aviation Maintenance Technician School (AMTS), Business and Applied Technologies (BAT), Cosmetology (COSMO), Information Technology (the instructional department), and Public Safety (also the instructional department).
The Director of Operations for Professional and Technical Education supervises all of the Instruction and Classroom Support Technicians within the Professional and Technical Education division; monitors and maintains the localized APPs- ensuring that each program maintains compliance with safety standards and expectations set forth; and, in coordination with other program staff and the Associate Vice President for Professional and Technical Education, determines the equipment and material needs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with program staff and faculty to determine operational, staffing, and training needs for each of the assigned areas (listed above); communicate those needs to divisional leadership.
  • Work with Program Managers and Department Chairs to create staffing schedules that are reflective of instructional and student needs and ensure adequate coverage during peak days/times.
  • Supervise all Instruction and Classroom Support Technicians within the Professional and Technical Education division.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive equipment inventories for AMTEC, AMTS, COSMO, IT, and Public Safety; ensure that manuals and training guides are kept on file.
  • Develop and maintain schedules and logs for all routine and preventative maintenance for machines and equipment; ensure that maintenance records are stored appropriately.
  • Create and improve systems for tracking maintenance requests.
  • Develop safety inspection checklists and logs for each piece of equipment; ensure that logs are available for employees and/or students to review.
  • In coordination with the Dean of AMTEC, develop a replacement schedule for all critical machines and equipment for AMTEC, AMTS, COSMO, IT, and Public Safety.
  • In coordination with Program Managers, ensure that all new employees receive appropriate onboarding/training and that items follow the appropriate safety orientation checklist(s).
  • Serve as liaison between programs and Campus Safety to ensure that the Building Captains program is current and reflective of campus policies and protocols.
  • Coordinate and facilities Professional and Technical Education division safety meetings; develop appropriate templates and forms for meetings.
  • Track and monitor software licensing agreements.
  • Monitors, maintains, and improves localized APPs; contributes feedback to Campus Safety initiatives.
  • Coordinates daily/weekly safety inspections, monthly safety audits, and annual site surveys performed by external, third party reviewers.
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver identified training sessions for employees to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as program accreditation requirements; to include all training outlined in APPs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • This position will require visits to multiple locations (e.g. AMTEC, AMTS, COSMO). The individual will be required to visit each of these sites on a regular basis. Efforts will be made to reduce the need to travel to multiple sites within a single day. Travel to EvCC locations are not eligible for travel reimbursement.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree and at least 3 years of work experience in operations and/or education OR an Associates degree and 5 years of work experience in operations and/or education
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and conflict management skills
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience using Google and Microsoft Office products, including database management platforms
  • Demonstrated experience working on diverse teams and with diverse populations
  • Three or more years of experience supervising a team of employees
  • Current certification or ability to obtain certification in OSHA/WISHA, First Aid, and CPR
  • Excellent attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience managing Accident Prevention Plans (APP)
  • Demonstrated experience with program/divisional safety committees
  • Experience within a manufacturing and/or learning environment
  • Masters degree in related field
  • Bilingual

Work Hours: Typical work hours are 8 am - 5 pm Monday - Friday with occasional night and weekend hours. Summer schedule is condensed to 4 10s, typically with Fridays off.
