About the role: The Insurance Division’s Office of Strategy Management is looking for a Technology Portfolio Director to oversee a diverse set of technology projects, acting as a strategic partner to IT, Operations, and Business leaders to deliver on a key set of initiatives aligned to the insurance organization’s long-term success. This individual will execute a range of portfolio management responsibilities, including governance, prioritization, and budgeting. The right can build strong rapport across a number of functions, collaborate effectively, and is a strong communicator. This role reports to the Head of Insurance Strategy and works closely with members of IT, the Group PMO, Insurance Operations and Insurance Business leaders. Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Ensure the portfolio is governed effectively by supporting the establishment and operation of an effective portfolio management forum that enables quality, data-driven decision making, and ensuring executive reporting is fit for purpose Safeguard the delivery of strategic outcomes set by senior Insurance executives with strategy set by the President of North America Insurance, Executive Committee members, and IT leadership, approving the investment criteria used to prioritize funding allocation to initiatives and tracking initiative outcomes and benefits Regularly review, resolve, manage and escalate portfolio risks and issues via appropriate governance Collaborate regularly with business portfolio leaders on the composition and execution of their portfolios, provide support for regular updates, change requests and new demand In partnership with IT and the Group PMO, manage portfolio Financials (forecasts, actuals, and budgets) and Workforce (resource planning, onboarding and cost recovery) effectively, challenge where appropriate and actively support the resolution of variances as necessary Ensure that projects are delivered in line with the relevant policies and standards, driving consistent, robust controls data Monitor indicators of control adherence; take action where needed to remediate any weaknesses in the controls, and identify and implement actions to drive greater maturity against key control indicators Other duties as assigned or required Qualifications, Education & Experience: 8 years of experience in technology project delivery and management 5 years experience in insurance and/or financial services Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Ability to work with senior leaders, respond to changing priorities, and adapt to changing priorities Strong team partner who can collaborate effectively and efficiently as well as work independently to achieve results Ability to be a proactive self-starter and multi-task in a fast-paced environment Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent education and work experience. Knowledge, Skills & Competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong consultation skills Superior organizational skills and attention to detail are required. Action oriented and strong work ethic. Intellectual curiosity to delve into various business problems. Must possess excellent analytical skills.
