The candidate will provide technical leadership and guidance around architectural best practices that help elevate Cost Optimization as a pillar of all solutions deployed to cloud. Proficiency in FinOps tools, cloud discount programs & Engineering Azure cloud services like AKS, VM’s, Storage solutions, networking, security, scripting, automation, and platform engineering is essential for ensuring seamless system operations. The candidate should possess strong technical aptitude, analytical and communication skills, and exceptional problem-solving ability. Exposure to working as an SRE implementing cost-aware end to end solutions though design trade-offs, autoscaling and performance engineering will be preferred. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain highly available, scalable, cost efficient and secure cloud-based services, promoting efficiency and self-service principles. Identify savings opportunities based on recommendations from FinOps tools and work with cross-functional teams to implement those recommendations within their cloud deployments/applications. Create and implement automation to optimize cost by working with application teams to drive savings. Participating in design discussions to make sure Infrastructure is resilient with intent based capacity planning to meet application SLO’s. Implement performance engineering techniques to improve application performance, so that fewer or less-expensive resources are consumed. Forecasting cost & resource requirements in cloud, providing visibility of cost through dashboards, implementing alerts to notify owners on cost surge/anomalies. Monitor and analyze cost of resources deployed in cloud vs. their usage metrics (Idle/underutilized resources) and recommend strategies to optimize cost without impacting performance or availability. Implement tagging strategy to keep track of cost assign to cost center. Implement cloud governance policies to meet security policies. Assist in architecting, designing, and implementing cloud-based IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions with a focus on platform engineering. Develop and maintain Infrastructure as code, automation scripts to streamline infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment, empowering engineering teams by enabling self-service. Implement and manage Kubernetes clusters for container orchestration, monitoring, and scaling. Drive efforts to enhance cloud infrastructure security, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability assessments, with a focus on engineering security solutions. Collaborate on continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate software deployment, emphasizing engineering and self-service automation. Define and maintain cloud engineering best practices and standards to ensure design and implementation consistency. Collaborate with software engineers to optimize applications for cloud deployment, emphasizing performance and scalability. Evaluate emerging Cloud and DevOps technologies, providing recommendations for integration into cloud engineering practices. Participate in capacity planning and resource optimization for cost-effective cloud infrastructure usage. Troubleshoot complex engineering issues, provide root cause analysis, and propose engineering-focused solutions. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to the cloud infrastructure, engineering practices, and security configurations. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members, fostering a culture of excellence. Work Experience and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. 5 years of cloud engineering and design experience. Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) with a focus on engineering best practices. Extensive experience with containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes. In-depth knowledge of networking principles, protocols, and security best practices for high-performance solutions. Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible). Excellent problem-solving skills, effective in a fast-paced collaborative environment. Proficiency in scripting and automation for efficient engineering workflows.
