We take pride in being known in the industry as nimble, entrepreneurial and responsive. Everest Re Group, Ltd. is currently recruiting for an AVP of Underwriting Risk. This position reports directly to the Head of Underwriting Risk, ERM. The AVP of Underwriting Risk will partner closely with the insurance and reinsurance division global leadership team to identify and develop profitable underwriting strategies. Location This is a hybrid position based in our NYC office or Warren, NJ headquarters. Minimal travel required Responsibilities include but not limited to: Support ERM in investigating, coordinating and tracking: Accumulation management across the Group Line of Business Performance Reviews including portfolio deep dive analyses Quality Assurance performance assessments Reserve Insights Support the insurance and reinsurance teams in Identifying, assessing and monitoring risk Implementing effective risk controls Consistently capturing risk in the risk register to allow ERM monitoring & independent audit Train and support individual risk owners Ensure the effective running of the Underwriting Risk Committee: Work with the Underwriting Risk Lead to set the agenda for each meeting Help coordinate the preparation of materials for each meetings Capture and drive follow up actions Prepare material for any escalation items Participate in key sub-committees including the reserving committee and catastrophe risk committee. Continually look for ways to improve the overall management of underwriting risk at Everest Qualifications, Education & Experience: Minimum 7-10 years in UW risk management, portfolio analytics, insurance or reinsurance underwriting, or pricing. Ability to lead cross-functional team Superior oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence decisions Excellent analytical and presentation skills with the ability to quickly analyze and interpret data Proactive and independent thinker with strong attention to detail. Highly responsive and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with direct exposure to senior management Highly collaborative and able to work effectively across the organization as well as with external stakeholders Comfortable taking initiative to achieve objectives and operates with an entrepreneurial spirit Displays tenacity and decisiveness, with the courage to take risks. Should be comfortable multi-tasking and adapting to changing/balancing priorities and working under pressure and deadlines. Proficient use of Powerpoint, Excel, Word and Outlook. Bachelor’s or professional degree preferred, but not required. For NYC Only: The base salary range for this position is $150,000-$175,000 annually.
